ABOUT
Welcome to The Emotion Studio
The Emotion Club is a psychological consultation practice dedicated to helping individuals understand their emotions, navigate life transitions, and build more meaningful, resilient lives. We serve clients across the American and European markets, offering a blend of evidence-based therapy, practical skill-building, and a warm, culturally-attuned approach to personal growth. At the moment, we are seeing clients virtually.
Our work is grounded in the belief that emotional clarity and self-understanding are essential ingredients for wellbeing. We help clients explore the ways their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors intersect, thereby, shaping their relationships, habits, motivations, and daily experiences. Whether someone is struggling with anxiety, rumination, depression, low motivation, social discomfort, or the challenge of reaching personal milestones, we provide individualized plans that help create real, sustainable change.

BIOGRAPHY
Empowering Emotional Wellness
Dorottya Balázs is a psychological expert and the founder of The Emotion Studio and The Mind Society Speaker Series. From an early age, she has been fascinated with the way people think and behave the way they do, and for what reasons. In her current roles, she provides help to individuals across the U.S. and Europe who are navigating their daily lives using techniques that aim to have lasting effects.
No single therapy method is a panacea for every person’s struggles, which is why at The Emotion Studio we developed the Whole-System Method of Well-Being to understand how the full context of an individual’s life shapes their mental health. This approach identifies six key drivers of imbalance: mind, sleep, nutrition and intake, the body, meaning, and connection. Each of these elements is interconnected and influences the others, so when one area is disrupted or under strain, it can affect the entire system. By identifying these patterns, we can create a thoughtful, personalized plan that supports the process of restoring balance.
Dorottya is currently completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Eötvös Loránd University, where she researches emotion polyregulation and the ways emotion-regulation flexibility can influence adaptive management. Her work explores the nuanced ways in which emotions, and our ability to regulate them, shape our lives both positively and negatively.
She feels that the way we interpret and understand our own and others’ emotions influences our day-to-day lives far more than we tend to realize. It shapes how we move through the small, moment to moment experiences that make up our lives. If we’re able to build a solid set of strategies to navigate our complex emotional world, life can start to feel just a bit easier.

Her academic and clinical background includes a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Psychology from Harvard University, DCE. She has extensive research experience in emotion regulation, trauma and loss, suicide prevention, and anxiety disorders, working in multiple laboratories at Columbia University, Harvard University, Mount Sinai (NYC) and Eötvös Loránd University.
Her work has involved ecological momentary assessment studies, empirical methodologies, meta-analytic and systematic review research, and clinical interviewing, and she has contributed to manuscripts under review in the fields of emotion regulation and well-being. She is proud to have volunteered over 150 hours as a Befriender at Samaritans in Boston, supporting callers experiencing crisis, emotional distress, and a wide range of life challenges.
She's currently based in Budapest, Hungary, with her husband and two part-time step-children. She enjoys hiking, yoga, being in nature, staying active, horse-back riding, going for long drives, and listening to podcasts. She's also an avid architecture and interior design enthusiast.
